Social Security Deal with Slovenia Approved
The Council of Ministers approved on Wednesday in principle the social security agreement with the Republic of Slovenia.
In a statement to the media after the government meeting, the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, underlined today the importance of this draft decision. “This brings the number of agreements signed by the Republic of Albania to 17, where together with the agreement being signed with Slovenia, there are 11 agreements that have been signed with European Union countries,” informed Ibrahimaj.
The Minister recalled that this is a policy that has already begun and has been intensified by the Albanian government for several years. “This is an essential policy in the protection of labor rights and in the protection of the rights and payments that every individual can receive in the future after having worked for several years in the Republic of Albania and several years in another country,” she added.
Ibrahimaj emphasized that this has been a problem that has been carried over for years. “Last year, we signed and ratified the agreement with Italy, which is the most important since the number of Albanians working and living in Italy is very high,” Ibrahimaj said.
The minister emphasized that so far, 20 thousand Albanians have benefited from the agreements that have been signed for the recognition of years of social security contributions, and it is continuing with high intensity.
