Special Court Refuses Release of Ex-President, Hashim Thaci

The Special Court has again refused the conditional release of the former President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi; local media reported. According to the last, the court has rejected the guarantee of the Kosovo Police.

According to a document published by the local media, it is known that the special court justifies the rejection of the request with the fear of interfering in the judicial process in Kosovo.

There are also allegations that the Kosovo Intelligence Agency had two agents posing as witnesses to give fabricated evidence. The reasoning also mentions the behavior of the KLA Veterans Organization and the fear of witnesses.

"Witnesses do not need to be physically hurt to be intimidated. The prospect of the release of the accused in Kosovo also creates fear and insecurity among the witnesses in this case," the document reads.

The former president of Kosovo is accused of "war crimes" and the indictments were confirmed in October last year.
