Supreme Court Eases Security Measure Against Former AKSHI Director
Supreme Court of Albania has eased the security measure imposed on former National Agency for Information Society director Mirlinda Karçanaj, replacing house arrest with a lighter obligation to regularly report to judicial authorities.
Under the court’s ruling, Karçanaj will now be subject to a “mandatory appearance” measure, requiring her to report to judicial police twice a month. The court also ordered a travel ban, prohibiting her from leaving Albania without prior judicial authorization.
According to the decision, Karçanaj must appear before judicial police at 10:00 a.m. on the first and third Tuesday of every month.
The ruling partially amended a previous decision issued on February 5, 2026, by the Special Court of Appeal Against Corruption and Organized Crime. The court upheld the same ruling for other appellants in the case, identified as Erjon Ismaili and Gëzim Hoxha.
The implementation of the decision has been assigned to the Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime, widely known as SPAK.
