Teacher’s Figure Hasn’t Been Respected for Eight Years; DP

Former MP of Democratic Party (DP) Albana Vokshi pointed out Sunday that the figure of teachers in Albania has not been respected, but has been blackmailed to work for and vote the ruling political party during the governance of Prime Minister Edi Rama and his Socialist Party (SP).

On the Teachers’ Day, Vokshi met with teachers in the Lapraka area, with whom she shared not only congratulations on the celebration, but also their concerns.

During the conversation with the teachers, Albana Vokshi emphasized the plans of the Democratic Party to revive education and to restore the dignity of the teachers after their support with a vote on April 25.

"In 8 years, the figure of the teacher has not been respected, but it has been blackmailed to work and vote for the ruling party. In 8 years, he has increased only 40.000 ALL, so every year only 5.000 ALL. He has removed the 13th salary, the bonuses. The teacher's salary has been practically reduced. But we have good news. This may change. It is in your hand, in the hand of the citizens.

We have a government that governs through ignorance, we have an ignorant prime minister. The safest investment in the economy is education. UNICEF estimates that due to underfunding, the economy loses USD 35 million in just 1 year. On the other hand, if a school closes, a prison opens. Rama has closed 430 schools in 8 years", said Albana Vokshi among other things.

On their part, a teacher showed how much the votes for the SP had cost him these 8 years. In 8 years, the government has taken 12 million ALL from teachers' pockets, so the vote for the Rama government has cost minus 12 million ALL in 8 years, as far as the teacher is concerned.

Another teacher pointed to the lack of freedom of thought. "We are working on a terror. They have come in with the spirit of the ignorant. The ignorants lead by and they exert pressure and pressure", said the teacher, while noting the decline in the quality of education.
