Third Day of Protests Over Zvërnec Held in Tirana

Demonstrators gathered in Tirana on Tuesday for the third consecutive day of protests in support of the protection of Zvërnec, with hundreds of citizens marching through the capital and demanding major political changes.

Protesters initially assembled at Skanderbeg Square before marching toward the Ministry of Interior and later the Prime Minister’s Office. Participants carried banners bearing messages such as “Albania Is Not for Sale” and other political slogans criticizing government policies.

During the demonstration, several protesters breached a police cordon positioned at the entrance of the Prime Minister’s Office, escalating tensions between demonstrators and security forces. No immediate reports of injuries were available.

Speakers addressing the crowd from a temporary stage called for the resignation of the entire government and demanded the repeal of the Strategic Investments Law and the so-called “Mountain Package,” arguing that the measures threaten public interests and environmental protection.

The protests have centered on concerns regarding the future of Zvërnec, a coastal area that activists and residents say must be safeguarded from controversial development projects.

Authorities have not yet issued a detailed response to the latest demands raised during the demonstration.
