Ministry of Defense has issued its latest update on the country’s wildfire situation, reporting 17 fire outbreaks across the country, with four still active, two under surveillance and 11 fully extinguished.

A total of 164 operational personnel and 13 firefighting vehicles are currently deployed on the ground. The Albanian Armed Forces are supporting the response with 90 personnel and two helicopters.

The active fires are located in Dajt, Vajkal in Bulqizë, Lundre in Mat and Therepel in Skrapar. According to the Ministry of Defense, none of the active fires currently poses a threat to populated areas, while operations to contain and extinguish the flames continue.

In Dajt, crews are working toward the Qafë-Priskë area, with 68 personnel deployed. Authorities report no immediate danger to residential areas.

In Vajkal, Bulqizë, the fire continues to burn across rocky terrain, with more than 13 hectares affected. Some 48 personnel are involved in the operation, and authorities say there is no threat to nearby homes.

In Lundre, Mat, strong winds are complicating the situation. Local emergency structures, volunteers and 30 Armed Forces personnel are involved in the response, supported by one military helicopter.

In Therepel, Skrapar, firefighting teams from Skrapar, Berat and Poliçan, along with volunteers and one Armed Forces helicopter, are participating in the operation.
