Tourists' Overnight Stays Up by 38% y/y in June
Tourism in Albania has marked a significant increase in June 2025, according to data published by the country’s statistical office INSTAT, reflecting a successful season for accommodation structures in the tiny Western Balkan country.
Hotels reported an increase in the flow of tourists and their overnight stays for this period, led by visitors from Kosovo with 19% and Italy with 13%.
According to the INSTAT report on accommodation structures for the month of June, the total number of visitors increased by 37.2% compared to last June. Of which the number of non-resident visitors (foreigners) increased by 37.4% and resident visitors (Albanians) increased by 36.7%.
The overnight stays of visitors in accommodation structures, another important indicator for tourist activity, increased by 38.2% in total. Where the number of non-resident visitors increased by 38.3% and residents by 38.0%.
INSTAT reports that coastal areas have had the largest increase in foreign visitors, with an increase of 42.4%, while hotels and similar accommodations recorded an increase of 35%.
In total, foreign visitors by country of origin: Kosovo leads with 19% of all foreign visitors; Italy with 13%; Poland with 10%; Germany with 8%; France with 6% and 44% of visitors come from other countries of the world.
According to INSTAT, the occupancy rate of hotel rooms reached 39.5%, compared to 35.9% in the same period of 2024, a clear indicator of improved performance in the tourism and hospitality sector.
These data confirm the growing trend of inbound tourism in Albania, especially from key markets in the region and Europe, positioning the country as an increasingly preferred destination for vacationers.
In June 2025, Albania saw a significant influx of foreign visitors, with 1,329,204 arrivals, marking a 7.1% increase compared to June of the previous year, according to INSTA data. This surge contributed to a total of 4.76 million foreign visitors in the first six months of the year, representing a 5% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
The tourism growth is a positive indicator for the country, with authorities attributing it to Albania's growing popularity as a regional tourist destination.
