US Ambassador Meets for One Hour the New Head of SPAK
American Ambassador Yuri Kim held a meeting for more than 60 minutes this morning with the Head of Special Prosecution against Organized Crime and Corruption (SPAK), Altin Dumani and other prosecutors.
This visit by Kim is the first after the election of the new head of SPAK, Dumani.
The US diplomat played an active role in the election of the new head of SPAK, where he closely monitored the process held at the High Council of Prosecution.
During the time when candidate Edvin Kondili was reporting to KLP, the US ambassador Yuri Kim also arrived in the hall, leaving no room for speculation and clarified that her arrival was not intended to influence the voting process, but to show the importance of the process, calling it a key moment for justice reform.
On his part, Altin Dumani was elected head of SPAK on Friday, December 16, receiving 5 votes from 10 members of the High Prosecution Council who participated in the election of the chief prosecutor of the Special Prosecution.
On the other hand, Edvin Kondili ranked second with 4 votes and Adnan Xholi received only one vote. Dumani is the second leader of SPAK since the creation of this key institution after the justice reform.
Duman's mandate is 3 years, without the right to reappointment. This was the second time that Dumani ran to head the Special Prosecutor's Office, after the first time he did not win against Arben Kraja.
