Woman Sent to Trial for Allegedly Killing Her Father; Mother Accused of Concealing Evidence
The Fier Prosecutor’s Office has concluded its investigation and sent Ermalinda Rama to trial on charges of killing her father, while her mother, Valbona Rama, is accused of allegedly attempting to conceal evidence of the crime.
The incident occurred on July 23, 2025, at the family’s home in the village of Frashër, in Patos, southern Albania.
According to prosecutors, Ermalinda Rama allegedly strangled her father, Anesti Rama, using a wire loop around his neck, causing asphyxiation and his immediate death.
Investigators allege that, before police arrived, the victim’s wife cleaned the area where his body was found and washed his body. Prosecutors say these actions were intended to alter or conceal evidence and obstruct the discovery of the truth.
The investigation’s findings are based on witness statements, forensic medical examinations, an inspection of the crime scene, seized items and other evidence collected during the proceedings.
Ermalinda Rama has been sent to trial on charges of murder due to family relations, while Valbona Rama faces charges of actions intended to obstruct the discovery of the truth.
The allegations will be examined by the court as the judicial proceedings move forward. Both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by a final court decision.
