February 15 was the deadline for the registration of political parties in the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) as electoral subjects taking part in the April 25 elections. 

CEC has registered 16 parties: 

Party of People’s Union of Albanian Pensioners; 

Alliance for European Equality and Justice; 

National Conservative Party; 

Albanian Workers Movement Party; 

Liberal Democratic Union; 

Socialist Party; 

Socialist Movement for Integration; 

Union for Human Rights Party; 

Democratic Party; 

Republican Party; 

Christian Democratic Alliance; 

Ethnic Greek Minority for the Future party; 

Thurje Initiative; 

Social Democratic Party; 

National Alliance Party; and 

Social Democracy Party.

The Commission has also approved the application of one independent candidate in the region of Lezha.
