The Albanian President, Ilir Meta, received on Friday the Ambassador of Switzerland in Tirana, Adrian Maitre, who handed me the letter of the President of the Swiss Confederation, H. E. Mrs. Simonetta Sommaruga, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries.

President Sommaruga warmly congratulates the Albanian people on this anniversary, praises the excellent relations between our two countries, the successful cooperation in many fields, and expresses confidence that the relations between Albania and Switzerland will continue to develop in all areas of interest to our two nations. 

After thanking Switzerland for the support and assistance that Switzerland has given to Albania and the Albanian people over the years, I assured them of my firm willingness to work together to further strengthen our relations.

I expressed my gratitude for the support and opportunities that Switzerland has created for the Albanian community to integrate and give its contribution, both in the comprehensive developments in Switzerland, as well as in the strengthening of cooperation between the two peoples.

We also discussed the activities that will be organized to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Albania and the Swiss Confederation.
The future of relations with Switzerland is very promising.
