Accused of Manipulation, Albanian Athlete Declared Innocent
Izmir Smajlaj has been declared innocent and can now return to athletics activity normally and regularly after being dismissed from all previous charges.
It has been learned that the athlete from Shkodra has won his legal battle which took place in France represented by lawyer Romina Zano. The athlete had been accused of manipulating the result in collaboration, where Nikolin Dionisi, general secretary of the FSHA, was also involved.
Nikolin Dionisi, the former secretary of the Athletics Federation, who pleaded guilty and with a summary judgment was sentenced to 4 years suspension from the activities of this sport, but also the current president of FSHA, Gjergj Ruli, for lack of sincerity and failure to take measures against administration of the federation for this mistake, being sentenced to 5 years of suspension.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, May 19, the Albanian Athletics Federation will hold an extraordinary assembly for the election of new leadership structures, and so far no name has been announced that can be positioned in place of Gjergj Ruli and Nikolin Dionis.
