Albania Approves Punishment for Pedestrians Breaking Road Code
Penalizations are in place for pedestrians who break Road Code provisions, has revealed Wednesday the Head of General Directorate of Road Transport Services (DPSHTRR), Blendi Gonxhe. According to him, all those pedestrians that cross the road somewhere they are not supposed to, will get fined slapped with fines.
Despite the above, those citizens of Albania who ride their bicycles to work, home or for recreational and exercise purposes must think twice before using their headphones or earbuds when on the move with their two-wheeled means of transportation.
"Measures for pedestrians are introduced. The code goes deeper. Today in urban areas compared to the EU and the region we have not good figures with more accidents caused by pedestrians, or cause, not vehicle by vehicle, but vehicle by pedestrian.
If you have crossed the road in the wrong place, there is a fine, if you will ride the bike with headphones, there is a fine. Measures related to risky behaviors are aggravated. Apart from the fine, even more points are removed if you repeat it by going back to the driving school", declared the Head of DPSHTRR.
Meanwhile, Gonxhe had an important clarification for all drivers whose technical inspection deadline expired earlier this year, although the vehicle testing will begin within May.
"It will start in May. Those who have a certificate that expired during 2021, for example in January and the test was closed and expires in June and September, they add another 12 months to their certificate.
The only problem is that we have postponed these of the first expiration, now must be calm everyone who has a certificate that expired earlier this year, all of these will expire in early 2022. New vehicles will come after three years from the first number plating. Two years the used vehicles. We will start testing within May, as we have 150.000 vehicles that have entered", he concluded.
