Albania’s ‘Rama 4’ Cabinet Sets EU Integration as Top Priority for 2026
In contrast to Prime Minister Edi Rama’s nearly 100-minute speech, sharply focused on justice reform, members of his cabinet delivered a unified message for the year ahead: advancing Albania’s path toward the European Union.
Speaking briefly — each for less than 10 minutes — ministers outlined the achievements of their respective departments and detailed plans for 2026, signaling tougher penalties, legal amendments and an intensified fight against corruption.
The government’s overarching objective under the “Rama 4” mandate is clear: complete the country’s European integration process by 2027.
Defense is expected to see significant developments in 2026, with officials pointing to domestically produced weapons labeled “Made in Albania” and the introduction of anti-drone systems as part of efforts to align national security standards with EU criteria.
Economic and education policies are also set to mirror European development models, as the cabinet seeks to harmonize reforms across key sectors.
Across all ministries, EU integration remains the central benchmark guiding legislative changes, institutional reforms and strategic planning — a process the government aims to finalize within the next two years.
