Albanian Cocaine Gang Cracked Down in Britain

A drug dealer for an Albanian gang was arrested after being caught with a quantity of cocaine worth over 40,000 pounds in the center of the city of Brighton in England.

Albert Nedelcu from Romania was stopped by police after the latter spotted the young man swapping a load of cocaine for a bag of around £25,000 in Church Road, Hove.

He was among four other people sentenced on Monday for involvement in an Albanian gang in the city. One of them had been deported twice from Great Britain.

In total, £42,000 worth of cocaine was seized, as well as £30,000 in cash, after police raided two flats in Palmeira Avenue Mansions in Brighton.

Nedelcu had traded the cocaine with Albanian Andi Dema, 35, who had previously been deported twice from Britain in 2021 and 2016, but according to his lawyers he came under "pressure from people in Albania to return" for paid his debts.

Dema said he owed about £80,000 to some people in Albania, while the court was told he became involved in drug dealing three years ago because of the debts he had accumulated.

"He was told that the only way he could raise the amount earned (to pay off his debt) was by dealing drugs. He is worried about his safety, his nine-year-old son and his wife," said his lawyer.

Another member of the gang, Ridison Nega, 25, was also seen exchanging cocaine for money, and it is reported that he was the one who noticed that the police had spotted the gang members, so he threw his identification device in the trash.

Another young Albanian ended up in handcuffs, after he was caught during one of the checks carried out by police officers in one of the apartments in Palmeira Avenue Mansions.

It is learned that the lawyer of the 20-year-old Xhenaro Shehu told the court that the young man had arrived in Britain to help his family in Albania.

Dema, who had two previous convictions for drugs, was sentenced to five and a half years in prison, Nega and Nedelcu were both sentenced to four and a half years, while Shehu was sentenced to two years and four months in prison.
