Albanian Flag Added to UN as Member Country Term Begins

January 1, 2022 marked the beginning of Albania's mandate in the UN Security Council, where Albanian representatives sit at the highest table for peace, security and stability.

Few days after the beginning of the two-year mandate, the Albanian flag will now sit among the national symbols of other powerful countries in the world, as Prime Minister Edi Rama revealed while publishing the footage of the flag-related ceremony.

“Ceremony of placing our national flag among the UN elected.

Albania is now a member of the UN Security Council, the highest decision-making table in the world”, said the Head of the Albanian Government.

Nevertheless, Albania sits at the Security Council for peace, security and stability for the first time, 66 years after joining the UN.

This council consists of 15 members, where the US, UK, France, Russia and China are 5 permanent members while the other 10 member countries have a two-year term.

The UN Security Council is one of the most important organs of the United Nations, tasked with maintaining peace and security between nations.
