Slovenia Marked Statehood Day Celebration in Tirana, Reaffirmed Support for Albania’s EU Integration
Ahead of Slovenia’s Statehood Day, observed on June 25, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tirana last week hosted a diplomatic reception marking the national holiday and the 35th anniversary of Slovenia’s independence.
The event, held on June 18, brought together more than 200 representatives from Albania’s political, diplomatic, religious, economic, cultural and civil society sectors, as well as members of the international community.
The reception also commemorated the Day of the Slovenian Armed Forces, celebrated annually on May 15. Organized in cooperation with Defense Attaché Colonel Ivan Turnšek, the event featured a performance by the Slovenian Armed Forces Orchestra under the direction of Rudolf Strnad, which contributed to the festive atmosphere.
In his address, Slovenian Ambassador to Albania, Jakob Štunf, recalled the historic significance of Slovenia’s independence 35 years ago. He highlighted the unity and determination of the Slovenian people in securing freedom and establishing Slovenia as an independent member of the international community.
The ambassador also emphasized the strong and friendly relations between Slovenia and Albania. He welcomed Albania’s progress toward European Union membership and reiterated Slovenia’s continued support for EU enlargement and Albania’s accession process.
The reception took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere and served as an important opportunity to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
