Nicola Gratteri, one of the most prominent Italian prosecutors in the fight against the mafia and organized crime, has described the Albanian mafia as one of the three most dangerous in Europe. In an interview, prosecutor Nicola Gratteri stated that the Albanian mafia has become very rich in Albania thanks to the high level of corruption that exists. 

"Today there are three mafias, there is Ndragheta, there is the Albanian mafia, which is no longer the one that robs villas, the Albanian mafia is quite structured, which has become rich in its country thanks to a terrible corruption, and then there is the mafia of the third generation of North Africans," he said. 

Even before, the Italian prosecutor Nicola Gratteri had raised the alarm about the explosion of the Albanian mafia in Europe by controlling important traffic, such as that of cocaine from Latin American countries. Gratteri has underlined the fact of gigantic corruption in Albania where it is easy to compromise public officials. According to him, if you emerge with economic power thanks to corruption from Albania, you will be able to strengthen yourself as an international mafia.
