Albanian Muslim Community against the Creation of the 'Muslim Bektash State'

The Albanian Muslim Community reacted Monday against the idea of the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama to establish a sovereign Muslim Bektash state on the territory of his country on the model of the Vatican.

In a public letter, this community says that it is the only representative of the Islam religion in Albania, adding that the new idea was not consulted at all with the religion communities.

"At a time when there are no religious conflicts in the country and the spirit of dialogue prevails, the Muslim Community of Albania emphasizes that such initiatives can be a dangerous precedent for the future of the country.

This initiative, for which we are known through the media, is not consulted with the religious communities, which for such cases have also set up a special institution, praised by all Western countries, such as the Interreligious Council of Albania," he further underlines this community.

Rama's idea for the creation of the new state will be called “the sovereign state of the Bektashi order, predicts a separate government, passports and borders. It will cover 270 hectares on the eastern side of Tirana, making it the smallest country in the world. It will be characterized by relaxation in the use of alcohol by men and freedom of dress by women. At the head of this small state is destined to be the spiritual leader of the Bektash from Albania, Edmond Brahimai, known in his community as Baba Modi.
