Albanian Opposition Calls Protest Outside Parliament on March 12
The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, announced that the party’s next protest will take place on March 12 at 10:00 a.m. in front of Albania’s Parliament.
Berisha called on citizens across the country to gather outside the parliamentary building while lawmakers are expected to hold a session to vote on lifting the parliamentary immunity of former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku. The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution (SPAK) has requested Balluku’s arrest in connection with an ongoing investigation.
Addressing supporters, Berisha urged Albanians to join the demonstration, describing the day as a decisive moment against what he called the country’s “narco-regime.”
“On March 12, all Albanians should gather in front of Parliament. It is the day of the great overthrow of the narco-regime. At 10:00 a.m., all of Albania at Parliament,” Berisha said.
