Albanian Presidency Responds to Greek Note of Protest

President of the Republic, Ilir Meta's spokesman, Tedi Blushi, reacted to the news given in the Greek media, that the visit of the head of state in an exhibition on the Cham issue, has brought a note of protest from the Athens embassy in Tirana. 

The presidency says that the president of a country is not accountable to any embassy, and no one can prevent him from visiting an exhibition, for which he is not responsible for the authenticity of the content. (Read also)

"Every foreign mission in Tirana, and every state that adheres to the Vienna Convention, for any claim or explanation regarding the activity or attitudes of the President of the Republic, should follow only the official path, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In response to the interest of "News 24" TV, regarding the reactions in the media of a neighboring country for the exhibition outside the premises of the Institution of the President of the Republic, of an exhibition organized by the Academy "Rrënjët Tona" and civil society, Spokesperson of the President of the Republic, Mr. Tedi Blushi explains that:

The President of the Republic, HE Ilir Meta was invited on November 15, 2021, to visit this exhibition, organized by civil society, with old photographs and maps, thousands of years old, found in Encyclopedias and Museums of the countries of different parts of the world, such as the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Turkey and Greece.

President Meta accepted the invitation to take a closer look at this exhibition, organized outside the premises of the Institution, without undertaking to verify the accuracy or make the interpretation of the exhibited materials.

Every serious state should be clear that the President of the Republic of Albania, HE Ilir Meta is not accountable for his decisions and stances before any accredited embassy in Tirana, but only before the Assembly of the Republic of Albania and the Albanian people.

Every foreign representation in Tirana, of every state that adheres to the Vienna Convention, for any claim or explanation regarding the activity or stances of the President of the Republic, should follow only the official path, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
