Albanian Tax Authority Uncovers Tax Evasion in Livestock Trade

The Albanian Tax Administration has identified tax evasion schemes by three businesses trading and importing live animals in Fier, Kavajë, and Kukës, following a citizen complaint.

Inspections revealed that the companies were declaring higher purchases than actual sales, a practice indicative of clear tax evasion. Authorities also found violations such as failure to display price lists.

As part of the investigation, two computer units were seized, uncovering that the businesses had failed to report €10 million in the tax system.

In a social media statement, the Tax Administration warned that all breaches of tax law will be strictly addressed, urging taxpayers to issue and request invoices in compliance with existing regulations, to ensure a fair market for all.
