Clashes broke out between protesters and police outside Albania's Parliament on Thursday, as demonstrators attempted to breach the security perimeter surrounding the legislature.

During the confrontation, protesters broke through a metal security barrier that had been installed by police to secure the area around the Parliament building.

Police responded by deploying pepper spray in an effort to push back the crowd. Several protesters were reportedly injured during the clashes.

The unrest unfolded outside Parliament while lawmakers inside held a parliamentary session, amid heightened political tensions.
