DP Shares Details over Meeting with EP Representatives
The Democratic Party has shared details regarding the meeting between several DP MPs and representatives of the European Pariament this Wednesday.
Through a post on social networks, DP informed of the topics discussed, highlighting the EU integration process as the main goal.
During the bilateral meeting that took place between the MPs of the European Parliament and the MPs of the Democratic Party, a number of current issues of relevance to Albania were discussed.
Above all, emphasis was placed on the lack of priorities of the Albanian government towards the integration process, reforms and policies of high interest to citizens. The discussion also focused on the issue of elections, the lack of basic standards to guarantee citizens a free and fair electoral process, as international partners such as the OSCE / ODIHR put emphasis on the April 25, 2021 election report, as well as progress-report of the European Commission.
Freedom of the media is one of the issues that European partners focused on over the growing concerns and with the creation of the Media and Information Agency which further deepens the centralization of information and the right of journalists to report freely.
No less important was the emphasis placed on the two issues that Albania continues to take steps back mainly in the lack of substantial results against corruption and the lack of visible achievements against organized crime.
