ERE Starts Licensing Process for 4 MW Solar Projects

The Albanian energy regulator, ERE, said it has decided to launch power generation licensing procedures for two local energy producers’ solar projects with a combined capacity of 4 MW located near the southwestern city of Fier.

ERE wants to license Delta Plan Studio for energy production at a 2 MW photovoltaic (PV) plant and Orher, also at a 2 MW PV plant, it said in a notice on Monday.

Orher was established in 2020, whereas Delta Plan Studio was founded in 2021, according to the Albanian business register.

ERE is also launching commercial licensing procedures for special purpose vehicle (SPV) Erseka Solar Park 1, one of three 20-MW solar projects that local companies Favina and M&K Energy Trading are developing near the southern city of Korce. ERE said it had initiated energy generation licensing procedures for Erseka Solar Park 1 in March.

ERE will accept stakeholders’ comments on the solar projects of Delta Plan Studio and Orher by October 17.

Currently, according to the latest statistics of ERE, 46 subjects are licensed in the production of photovoltaic energy, where only during this year there are eight new subjects, as well as subjects that received the license earlier but had it reviewed during this year.

The production of photovoltaic energy from plants already in operation continues to remain modest among the total energy produced. Until August, 131 thousand MW were produced, making up 2.5 percent of the net production in the country.

However, the amount of this energy is expected to increase significantly in the future due to the entry into production of several plants with considerable capacity.
