Ex-Speaker of Parliament Blames Basha for DP’s Division
Former Speaker of Parliament Jozefina Topalli has accused Saturday the former Chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha of dividing the political force.
in her speech at the National Assembly of the Democratic Party, Topalli underlined that after the elections of 2013, when the DP lost to Socialist Party (SP), the democrats were used to being part of a political entity that won the polls.
Moreover, she added that the old democrats were used to fighting for their truths and keep the government unde control, but the day came when this was not the case anymore.
“After the 2013 election we were used to being part of a party that won the election. Whenever the DP won we were able to make the difference. We made mistakes and we all agree, but in power we ruled and in opposition we were strong and real.
Our opposition, in the longest, most difficult years of the opposition before 2005, no one called us a false opposition.
They did not think that we could be corrupted in the opposition, we did not impose fines, we did not sell the mission of the opposition, we did not burn mandates, we did not escape responsibilities and we did not imagine throwing gas at our people.
We were used to fighting for our truths, no matter how much they cost us, to keep the government under control, but the day came when the DP had nothing democratic left up there in its leadership”, stated Topalli.
