Explosive Device Damages Car of Police Officer in Lezhë
A car belonging to police officer Gentian Gjeta was damaged in an explosion early Sunday morning in the city of Lezhë, authorities said.
Gjeta, who serves as an investigator in the crime sector of the Lezhë Local Police Directorate, was not injured in the incident. According to initial information, an explosive device believed to contain TNT was placed near the front part of his vehicle.
Sources say two masked individuals are suspected of carrying out the attack. The assailants reportedly arrived on a motorcycle, placed the explosive device near the car, and quickly fled the scene in an unknown direction.
The blast caused significant material damage to the vehicle, but no injuries were reported.
Following the explosion, multiple police units and investigators arrived at the scene and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the incident.
Authorities are examining several possible motives, with one of the main lines of inquiry focusing on the officer’s professional duties in the crime investigation sector. Investigators are also reviewing security camera footage from the area and collecting evidence that could help identify and apprehend the suspects.
