The Prosecution Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier has concluded its investigation and has referred to trial Albanian national S.M., charged with the criminal offence of “Exploitation of Prostitution” under Article 114, first paragraph of the Criminal Code, as well as Brazilian national L.J.D.S., charged with the criminal offence of “Prostitution” under Article 113, first paragraph of Criminal Code.

The investigation in criminal proceeding No. 121 of 2026 was initiated following information received from the Embassy of Brazil in Tirana, requesting assistance in locating a Brazilian citizen with whom her family had lost contact for approximately one month.   

During the investigation, the Fier Prosecution Office, in cooperation with judicial police services, identified the individual who had last been in contact with her and carried out a series of procedural investigative actions to clarify the circumstances of the case.

 During the investigation, statements from the persons involved were obtained, mobile phones were examined, electronic communications were analyzed, and other material evidence was secured. The evidence established that the Brazilian national L.J.D.S. had entered the territory of the republic of Albania in September 2025 for the purpose of engaging in prostitution, following contacts established with individuals operating through online communication platforms.     

Based on the evidence collected, after arriving in Albania, the defendant L.J.D.S.engaged in prostitution at various locations in Tirana, Golem and subsequently in Lushnje. The defendant S.M., after becoming acquainted with the defendant in question, actively participated in exploiting her for prostitution by procuring clients in exchange for payment, negotiating the prices of sexual services, and deriving financial benefit from this activity.      

Furthermore, electronic communication obtained during the investigation showed that the defendant S.M. offered to various individuals the opportunity to engage in sexual relations with the Brazilian national in exchange for payment, setting the fees and arranging the meetings as well.

In the course of investigation, the Brazilian national was located in a residential property in the village of Karbunarë, Municipality of Lushnje, where she was staying at the moment of the Judicial Police intervention.

The Fer Prosecution Office remains committed to investigating and prosecuting criminal offences that infringe upon the freedom and dignity of individuals, while cooperating with the domestic law enforcement institutions and international partners to identify and protect potential victims of exploitation and human trafficking.    

In accordance with the constitutional principals of the presumption of innocence, it is emphasized that the criminal liability of the accused persons will be determined exclusively by the competent court.
