Former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), Dritan Goxhaj, has been arrested in Tirana. The arrest of the former KLA member was made by order of the Special Court of Kosovo. 

Dritan Goxhaj was an escort of the American troops during the War in Kosovo in 1999. He joined the KLA as an officer of the Albanian Army at the aviation school and was authorized by the General Staff to maintain contact with the command of the American forces in Albania. 

It is learned that Goxhaj's arrest was made with the claim that he had extracted the names of the witnesses of several criminal cases, brought after the war in Kosovo. 

"The specialists of the Section for the Investigation of Serious Crimes against the Person in the Tirana Local Police Directorate executed the decision dated 20.07.2023, of the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction Tirana, which has decided to allow the physical control and the apartment of the citizen D. G., as well as the appointment of the personal security measure "Arrest in prison", for the purpose of extradition, to the citizen D. G., 45 years old, born in Fier and resident in Tirana. 

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Tirana," the police said.
