HPC Urges to the Media to Respect Dignity and Life of Judges and Prosecutors
The High Prosecutorial Council reacted this Friday against the media.
In a short statement, HPC urged to the media that should stop the denigration of the judges and prosecutors of the Special Prosecution and the Special Court against Corruption.
This Council says that it appreciates the role of the independent media on informing the public, but urges to be respected the dignity and the private life of the judges and prosecutors.
"In order to guarantee the authority and impartiality of the justice system, the High Prosecutorial Council joins the position of the High Judicial Council in support of all prosecutors of the Republic of Albania, regarding some media reports that may result in a violation of their integrity and independence.
The labels used, the one-sided assessments, without careful and objective reviews, as required by professional journalism, deviate from impartial and balanced reporting by the media. This may lead to unprofessional information and a violation of public trust in justice.
Independent and professional justice must prevail in every case, therefore we encourage cooperation with the media for fair, balanced and verified reporting" says statement.
