The former mayor of the Municipality of Shengjin, Salvador Kaçaj, presented his candidacy in the Democratic Party Primaries for the Municipality of Lezha. Kaçaj underlined the reasons why the citizens should choose him to lead the city.

"To ask for your votes in the historic PRIMARY elections, carried out by the Democratic Party, I am based on an infinity of reasons that connect me to our city of Lezha. 

1. My 4-year experience in the management of the Municipality of Shengjin. All the people of Lezhe know that with a colossal job we can turn Shengjin into the pearl of coastal tourism, not only for the Albanians of Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Montenegro, but for the whole of Europe. In the renovated Shengjin of Lezhe, in addition to tourism, we persistently engrave the traditions and cultural history of the Lezhne region, awakening international interest in our hometown. 

2. Lezha is everything to me. I was born, spent my childhood and youth in this city. In every street, neighbourhood and stone, I have my indelible memories. There I have the most vivid emotions and the most beautiful part of my life. In Lezhe, I have true companionship and friendship that originates from almost half a century with the most beautiful human elements. 

3. With the deformations that our city is suffering in these years of the Renaissance, with the Municipality politically stolen and badly managed, the pearl of the north of Albania, through serious administration, everything must change.
 
This change starts from employment, income growth, stimulation of production, infrastructure, education and health system, help for retirees and families in need, up to external connections through twinning and cooperation. 

We are an important, but undervalued port city, left to oblivion by the anti-national policies of the Rama Government. The leftist government, even though it has devoured all the powers, has never spoken about the port of Shengjin. In its lectures and programs, the port of Durres, Vlora and Saranda have dominated, of course for certain political and economic benefits. Rama never mentioned the port of Shengjin, leaving it in degradation and thus leaving Lezha in misery. 

4. The lack of attention to Lezhe and the mismanagement of the renaissance in these years of totalitarian power, has led to the departure of thousands of people, mostly young people. Local Government, well oriented politically and properly invested economically, is the way to improve the most serious national wound today, Human Haemorrhage. We, the democrats, have a duty to stop this terrible phenomenon. 

5. Our city of Lezhe needs an extraordinary contribution, not only in local government administration but also in sports. With the team of our beloved Beselidhje, I took my first steps in football, gained a lot of experience, to reach the National team of Albania with very important confrontations in the international arena. The colours of Beselidja are still on my shoulders and in my heart as a triumphant emblem. Every young man or woman who dreamed of sports should have this opportunity that I had. 

I am asking all the democrats and sympathizers, who will be part of this extraordinary opportunity of the primaries, to give me the opportunity to repay the debt I owe to Lezha and each of its citizens", he declared from the blue headquarters.
