Greece, 22-Year-Old Footballer of Albanian Origin Dies on the Field

The 22-year-old Alexandros Lambis, player of Albanian origin, passed away on the field. Lambos played as a striker for a third category team, Ilioupoli.

During the match in the 3rd category between Ilioupoli and Ermionida, in the 5th minute Lambis suddenly fell on the field and lost consciousness. The doctors ran to give the first aid but could not do anything as he needed specialized service and special tools.

The 22-year-old is suspected of suffering a cardiac arrest, because the doctors of the teams, after calling the ambulance, asked them to take a defibrillator. There was no ambulance in the field to pick up the boy and transport him to the hospital.

The ambulance arrived late at the stadium. The emergency vehicle was called at 15:11 but arrived at 15:27, too late for the Greek player. Lambi was transported to the hospital with minimal pulse where he could not escape.
