lbania Says Fuel Supply Unaffected by Hormuz Tensions, Plans 90-Day State Reserves
Minister Enea Karakaçi said Albania’s fuel supply has not been impacted by tensions in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, despite concerns over global energy disruptions.
Karakaçi outlined the government’s long-term strategy to strengthen energy security.
He announced that a new law on strategic reserves is in its final stages and is expected to be approved within the next few weeks. The legislation ???????????es the creation of a dedicated state agency that will manage the country’s fuel reserves.
Under the new framework, responsibility for maintaining reserves will shift from private entities to the state agency, which will store fuel in its own or leased facilities. The goal is to ensure a ????? equivalent to 90 days of supply, improving Albania’s preparedness for potential global shocks.
Karakaçi added that fuel prices will remain volatile due to the nature of the business model and fluctuations in international markets, underscoring the continued influence of global factors on domestic pricing.
