Leonardo DiCaprio Shows Important Economic Impact of Vjosa National Park
For some time now, Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio has become an important voice for the protection of the Vjosa River in Albania.
He has repeatedly demanded that Vjosa be declared a National Park, to be protected from dams or other projects that could damage it.
Finally, through an Instagram post, the actor declares that a National Park would attract about 1.5 million visitors each year, generate about 20 million euros in revenue each year.
"Activists with @blueheartrivers have been working to protect Vjosa for a decade and their efforts have gained global support. If Vjosa were to become a national park, it would forever protect it from oil exploration and nearby dams, among other things.
A Vjosa National Park would attract about 1.5 million visitors each year, generate about 20m euros in revenue each year, and create six local community jobs for each job in the national park", wrote DiCaprio.
