Luxembourg Prime Minister Praises Albania's Moving Forward
In the joint conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Prime Minister of Luxembourg, Xavier Bettel, said that Albania has moved forward on its path and that it sees opportunities for cooperation.
Focusing on the situation in the region, Bettel stressed that the Western Balkans was seen as a powder keg in the past but this should be avoided, adding that a solution should also be reached between Kosovo and Serbia and that sovereignty should not be questioned.
"The path you have taken during this time is remarkable, but there is still potential. We have companies from Luxembourg that are investing in the region. I hope that you will come to Luxembourg as soon as possible and we will see a possibility of how to convince them to create other spaces. There are cultural itineraries where we can work together. There can be exchanges between universities, so is tourism. The prime minister also said that negotiations for the EU have been opened and it is important that countries cannot be held hostage for reasons of national policies. Let's not forget that in '57 when there was the Treaty of Rome, France and Germany were enemies, and since that time we managed to have peace. So this is the EU, at that time the answer was the weapon, today it is the exchange of respect. Edi is someone who speaks and we can't just comfort him when he asks us something. We can't treat a country like this when the tasks are done you have to recognize it and say yes we will move forward. It shouldn't be just a lounge, but in this pre-family we should find ways to be part of it, to have something where we can work towards common interests. Since we told you that the first waiting room was completed, you are now in the second room. The Balkans has been a powder keg for our continent and we must avoid it. I know that Kosovo and Serbia are discussing today, but they must move forward, we must not allow ourselves additional tensions. Sovereignty should not be questioned. We have to find a solution", he noted.
