Measures to Guarantee Power Supply

The Distribution System Operator (OSSH) has drafted a special plan of measures to guarantee a stable supply of electricity in tourist areas during the summer season.

The coordinator at OSSH, Llambi Miti, in a communication with the media on Tuesday, announced that the measures taken aim to cope with the increase in energy demand during the tourist period and guarantee a rapid response to network problems.

He said the company has engaged 1,030 employees, organized in 130 working groups, as well as 86 operational vehicles that will be on standby for field interventions, with focus on tourist areas with high load.

According to him, in parallel with the operational organization, investments have also been made in the distribution network, which includes 136 substations, 126 cabins, 708 kilometers of 35 kV lines, 120.15 kilometers of MV lines, and 48.3 kilometers of LV lines.

In the northern area, repairs of 35 kV lines, modernization of substations, construction of a power substation of Velipoja e Re, and installation of new 20 kV feeders have been carried out. In the southwestern area, substations have been reinforced, cable bridges have been duplicated at the power substation in Palasa, and transformer tests have been carried out at the Saranda e Re, Palasa, Vlora 1, and Vlora 2 substations.

Meanwhile, in the central area, repairs have been carried out at the coastal substations Shkozet, Sallmone, Gjiri i Lalëzit, Golem, Kavaja, and Ballaj, and the readiness of intervention groups and material bases for emergencies has been guaranteed.

In Shkodra, interventions have been carried out in the 20 kV network in Velipoja and Shëngjin, with three new feeders, while in Durrës, the modernization of cabins, the implementation of smart meters, and the transition of Spille to 10 kV have continued.

In Vlora, investments have been made in Orikum, Himara, and Palasa, with feeders and a new 20 kV network, while in Gjirokastra, the energy infrastructure has been modernized with new cabins, transformers with increased power, and a mobile power substation in Borsh.
