New Medical Statement for Archbishop Anastasios of Albania - His Health Condition Is Critical

The health condition of the Archbishop of Albania, Mr. Anastasios, who is being treated at the Evangelismos Hospital, has deteriorated. 

The current condition of His Beatitude Archbishop of Albania, Mr. Anastasios, is assessed as critical by the attending physicians ,” the medical statement from Evangelismos states.

The 95-year-old hierarch is being closely monitored by the hospital's medical team, under the guidance of Professor of Pulmonology and Intensive Care Ms. Anastasia Kotanidou.

It is recalled that Archbishop Anastasios of Albania was admitted to a hospital in Tirana due to a virus that afflicted him on December 30. His health condition deteriorated and on January 3, it was deemed necessary to transfer him to Athens.
 

Before his hospitalization at Evangelismos, the 95-year-old hierarch, who has a complicated medical history, had shown symptoms of the flu.

Specifically, he was admitted on Friday evening, after being airlifted from Albania by an Air Force vessel. He was initially admitted to a hospital in Tirana. 

However, his health deteriorated, which led to the decision to transfer him to Greece, so that he could receive specialized medical care.

The airlift was carried out by an Air Force C-27 aircraft, while a doctor and two rescuers from the Hellenic Air Force's Flying Medical Personnel Team were at the Archbishop's side. The aircraft landed at the Elefsina military airport at 19:34 on Thursday evening, and immediately afterwards the Archbishop was transferred by an Hellenic Air Force unit to "Evangelismos".

At the "Evangelismos" hospital, Mitsotakis was informed about the Archbishop's health.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the "Evangelismos" hospital where the Archbishop of Albania, Anastasios, is being treated.

Mr. Mitsotakis was informed by Professor of Pulmonology and Intensive Care, Anastasia Kotanidou, about the state of his health.
