New Power Substation in Kamza Underway
The new power substation in Kamza is expected to bring higher technical standards and a more stable supply of electricity to consumers in the area.
During the inspection of the works at the site, the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, said that the project is being implemented with the support of the Albanian and German governments.
“This is an investment that is being implemented with the support of the Albanian and German governments. It is one of the most important projects in the energy sector. Meanwhile, we have a deeper cooperation with the German government in this sector worth Euro 30 million, which includes the digitalization of substations, this new substation, and the rehabilitation of 12 other substations,” said the minister.
According to him, the investment of Euro 13 million aims to modernize the network and increase capacities.
Also present, the Administrator of Power Distribution Operator OSSH Blendian Dalipi, stated that the new substation is completely new and replaces the old infrastructure.
On the other hand, the Ambassador of Germany in Tirana, Karl Bergner, praised the cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector. “This is an important moment of cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector as well,” he stated.
“I have previously visited the old 60-year-old substation, and it is the right time that a new substation is being built, which will improve the stability of the energy supply,” the ambassador said.
He also emphasized the regional impact of energy investments. “We have also made progress on the 400 kilovolt energy line with North Macedonia, increasing the stability of the grid and creating opportunities for Albania to increase energy exports,” Bergner said.
