PM Promises ALL 60,000 Minimum Wage within 2030

Prime Minister Edi Rama said that he intends to increase the minimum wage to 60,000 lek, while the per capita income to 10,000 euros. In a meeting with the citizens in the Municipality of Patos, the head of the government said that the increase in the minimum wage is the result of hard work, while adding that the private sector should also raise wages as soon as possible.

"Finally, the oil workers have their special status and thanks to this, they are treated with respect for all the work in the service of the motherland. In fact, I want to say that today at this moment in our path I feel relieved because we have made many changes but most importantly, we have managed to translate these changes into a historic increase in salaries, which leads the average in the public sector from 530 to 900 euros.

What I want to add is that this very strong growth, which is the result of hard work and a difficult path, is also a moment that will make the private sector raise wages more and much faster. We decided to raise the minimum wage again, and at the end of April they will no longer receive 34,000 ALL but 40,000 ALL. The minimum wage was not foreseen in our electoral program.

We, as well as they, predicted the minimum wage at 38,000 ALL in 2025. Today we have 40,000 and by 2025 we will raise it to 45,000 ALL. In these years, which, as I said, are difficult years, we have doubled the income per capita, we started with 330 euros and today we are at 640. Wages are not raised at will. Salaries are raised based on opportunities. My ambition is to definitely go to a minimum salary of 60 thousand ALL and per capita income to 10 thousand euros. This is the peak I see towards Albania in 2030," Rama said.
