President Proposes Creation of 'Queen Geraldine' Decoration

President of the Republic, Ilir Meta has proposed this Tuesday the creation of a state decoration called "Queen Geraldine". Meta writes that this proposal comes in the framework of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and Hungary and the 20th anniversary of the return to the Homeland of the Albanian Royal Family. 

For this, the Head of State has requested the cooperation of the Speaker of the Parliament, Lindita Nikolla. 

"In the framework of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and Hungary and the 20th anniversary of the return to the Homeland of the Albanian Royal Family, I decided to seek the cooperation of the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Mrs. Lindita Nikolla for the creation of the high state decoration "Queen Geraldine". 

This decoration, in appreciation, respect and honour of the dedication, commitment and love of Queen Geraldine for Albania, the place she never forgot, will be given to women and girls who not only love the Homeland with mind and heart, but reveal this love in promoting Albania and our historical and cultural values, strong European affiliation and our precious heritage. 

This high decoration will appreciate at the same time, for extraordinary merits, for outstanding services and great sacrifices, for dedication, commitment and valuable contributions in raising public awareness on the irreplaceable role of women in the family and in society and institutions and empowerment of its essential contribution to the process of Europeanization of Albania on its path towards full integration into the European Union," Meta wrote.
