Prosecutors Charge Composer Adrian Hila Over Alleged Destruction of Security Camera Hard Drive
Prosecutors in the capital have charged composer Adrian Hila with the criminal offense of “actions obstructing the discovery of the truth,” after investigators reportedly determined that the hard drive containing footage from a home security camera system had been deliberately damaged.
According to investigators, authorities attempted to examine the camera system’s hard drive to determine what material had been stored on it, when the recordings had been made and whether the computer memory had been accessed or altered by third parties.
During their examination, investigators allegedly found that the device had sustained deliberate damage. Hila, identified as the owner of the hard drive, was subsequently questioned about the condition of the device.
Investigators say Hila acknowledged that he had personally destroyed the hard drive. Asked why, he reportedly said he feared hackers could regain access to the system and obtain additional data.
That explanation has raised questions about earlier statements attributed to the composer, according to which the cameras had no storage capacity and merely recorded footage in real time.
The alleged destruction of the hard drive could therefore become a key element in the ongoing investigation into the security-camera system installed at Hila’s home and how intimate videos allegedly ended up on adult websites.
The investigation, led by Tirana Prosecutor Julian Xhengo, is expected to examine whether the cameras stored recordings, how the system was accessed and what happened to the footage before it appeared online.
