US Invests More than $40 Million to Strengthen Albania's Cybersecurity Defences

The United States has invested more than $40 million in strengthening Albania’s cybersecurity capabilities, as the two countries step up cooperation to counter cyber threats sponsored by foreign governments.

The announcement was made by the US Embassy in Tirana, highlighting Washington’s continued support for Albania’s digital security and resilience.

Speaking at Albania’s National Cybersecurity Conference, US Ambassador Eric Wendt praised the country’s progress in strengthening its digital defences and developing a new generation of cybersecurity experts through its partnership with the United States.

The embassy also highlighted joint initiatives, including the CyberNext programme, which aims to build expertise, develop technical capabilities and strengthen Albania’s cybersecurity workforce.

“Together, we are building a stronger and more secure digital infrastructure for Albania, the United States and NATO,” the US Embassy said in its statement.

The investment underscores the growing strategic importance of cybersecurity cooperation between the two NATO allies, particularly as governments face increasingly sophisticated digital threats and attacks targeting critical infrastructure.
