Significant Increase in Passenger Air Traffic in May
Albania continues to record an increase in passenger air traffic, ranking among the highest-performing countries in Europe, according to statistics published on the performance of countries in air transport for May 2026, compared to May 2025.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared on social networks the comparative table, according to which Albania recorded a 26% increase in passenger traffic, ranking behind Slovakia with 112.8% and North Macedonia with 27.4%.
“May with significant growth,” Rama wrote, assessing the performance of the air transport sector.
According to the statistics referred to, Montenegro ranks after Albania with 17.8%, Malta with 16.5%, Uzbekistan with 16.2%, and Estonia with 13.1%, while several European countries have recorded a decline in air traffic during the same period.
The increase in traffic at the “Mother Teresa” International Airport reflects the expansion of air connections and the increase in the number of passengers, at a time when Albania continues to register a growing influx of tourists and international travelers.
