Six Family Members Injured in Suspected Gas Cylinder Explosion in Northern Albania

Six members of a family were injured after a gas cylinder allegedly exploded inside a two-story home in the village of Markatomaj, in northern Albania, police said.

The incident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to authorities.

Among those injured were two children, aged 10 and 13, as well as the 40-year-old owner of the home and three women aged 64, 70 and 58.

Police officers responded to the scene and assisted in transporting the injured to the Lezhë Regional Hospital.

Five of the injured, including the two children, remain under medical care and are reported to be out of danger, authorities said.

The homeowner, identified by police as Saimir Kola, was transferred to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana for specialized treatment.

An investigative team was dispatched to the scene to document the incident and determine the exact circumstances surrounding the suspected gas cylinder explosion, police said.
