SPAK Conducts Raids in Drug Trafficking and Money Laundering Investigation
The Albanian State Police, in cooperation with the Special Prosecution against Corruption (SPAK), are continuing a series of operations targeting a group suspected of involvement in drug trafficking and money laundering activities.
Among those under investigation are Astrit Vladi and Kastriot Vladi, the latter previously linked to the high-profile Toyota Yaris case. Authorities suspect the individuals used the encrypted messaging platform Sky ECC to communicate and coordinate alleged criminal activities.
According to investigators, the suspects are believed to have trafficked narcotics from Latin America to various destinations across Europe and the United Kingdom. The alleged communications on Sky ECC are believed to have taken place between 2019 and 2020.
Prosecutors also suspect that several business figures may have been involved in laundering proceeds connected to the group's alleged criminal operations.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the State Police are carrying out 20 search operations, including inspections at hotels in the coastal city of Vlora.
Authorities said investigations and searches remain ongoing as they seek to fully uncover the scope of the suspected criminal network and its activities.
