Tensions Erupt Outside Albanian Parliament as Lawmaker Surrounded by Protesters in Tirana
Tensions flared outside the Parliament of Albania in Tirana as a group of protesters surrounded Socialist Party MP Ardit Bido.
Demonstrators were seen encircling Bido, shouting “thief” and directing accusations at him. The lawmaker responded by asking protesters what exactly they claimed had been stolen, as the situation quickly became more heated with more individuals moving closer.
Police intervened shortly afterward to escort the MP away from the crowd and prevent further escalation. During the operation, one protester was reportedly restrained by police after attempting to move behind officers accompanying Bido.
The incident unfolded amid ongoing demonstrations in the capital, where tensions between protesters and political figures have periodically intensified. Authorities have not reported any serious injuries.
