Thousands Rally Across Albania as Anti-Government Protests Enter 11th Consecutive Day

Citizens gathered for a new round of demonstrations on Wednesday, marking the 11th consecutive day of protests with the primary demand being the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

As in previous days, protesters assembled at 6:00 p.m. in Skanderbeg Square before marching toward the government headquarters. Organizers, activists, and citizens are expected to address the crowd, while demonstrations are set to expand across several of Tirana’s main roads and intersections.

Wednesday’s gathering has been described by organizers as a nationwide protest, with calls for participation extending to Albanians living abroad. Organizers have linked the date to the anniversary of the League of Prizren, describing it as a symbol of national unity and collective action.

Similar demonstrations are taking place in several other cities across the country, including Korçë, Vlorë, and Elbasan.

The protest movement initially emerged in opposition to a proposed tourism development project in the protected Pishë Poro and Sazan areas. What began as a local environmental campaign has since evolved into a broader civic movement, drawing support from citizens concerned about governance, public accountability, and environmental protection.

Authorities have not yet issued an official response to the latest demonstrations.
