The Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK) has arrested a senior police official and a businessman as part of an expanding investigation linked to the case involving the National Agency of Information Society (AKSHI), according to local reports.

Fatjon Kalluci, a senior official at the Police Scientific Laboratory, has been arrested as part of the operation. Also taken into custody is Embro Sulejmani, administrator of the “Kodra e Kuajve” agritourism business in the coastal city of Durrës. Sulejmani also reportedly works as head waiter at a government compound in Durrës.

The operation began in the early hours of the morning, with SPAK investigators carrying out searches at several homes and offices belonging to current and former officials, according to sources cited by Albanian media.

Investigators also searched the residence of Ilir Proda, the former Director General of the State Police. Authorities have not yet publicly disclosed the specific allegations against Proda or the findings from the search.

Separately, SHISH Director Vlora Hyseni has been suspended from her position and placed under a house arrest order as part of the same broader investigation, according to local reports. Hyseni is reportedly outside Albania, and the measure has not yet been executed.

The investigation is understood to have expanded from the broader AKSHI case and is examining evidence involving several current and former officials. Prosecutors have not yet released a comprehensive account of the evidence or the specific circumstances underlying each security measure.

The operation remains ongoing, and further arrests, searches or other investigative measures have not been ruled out.

All allegations remain subject to the ongoing judicial process, and no final court ruling establishing criminal responsibility has been issued against the individuals named in connection with the investigation.
