Two Arrested for Ecstasy Production and Distribution in 'Blue Punisher' Operation
Two people have been arrested in Tirana on charges of producing and selling ecstasy as part of a police operation code-named “Blue Punisher,” authorities said.
The suspects, identified as Bujar Lezo, 59, and Elvis Lezo, 42, are uncle and nephew and are alleged to have been involved for some time in the sale and distribution of narcotics, mainly ecstasy.
According to police, the drugs were trafficked from Italy by land. In Italy, the suspects allegedly secured ecstasy tablets as well as powdered substances, which were later processed and prepared at their residence in the Ali Demi area of Tirana.
The operation was named after the logo stamped on the ecstasy tablets. Police said Elvis Lezo is suspected of maintaining contacts with another criminal group in Italy and has a prior criminal record.
Authorities said the drugs were mainly sold in nightclubs, with each tablet sold for about 3,000 new lek.
During a search of the premises, police seized 2,200 tablets of suspected ecstasy (MDMA) and two mobile phones as material evidence, according to the official statement.
