The wildfire situation across Albania has improved significantly over the past 24 hours, with most of the reported fires fully extinguished, according to the Ministry of Defense.

Authorities reported 32 wildfire incidents across the country. Of those, 28 have been completely extinguished, three remain under monitoring and one fire is still active in the Gallatë area of Kurbin.

Rainfall overnight has helped improve conditions, while operational forces remain deployed and on alert for any potential developments.

A total of 426 local and regional operational personnel and 30 firefighting vehicles have been involved in the response. Albania’s Armed Forces have also supported the operations with 92 personnel, 10 vehicles, one drone and one ambulance, the ministry said.

In Tirana County, the fire on Mount Dajti, where 33 military personnel were deployed the previous day, has been extinguished. The fire on Mount Gropa has also been brought under control.

In Dibër County, fires in Lundre–Madhesh in the municipality of Mat, Cerrujë in Klos and Selishtë remain under monitoring. Authorities said there is currently no threat to populated areas.

The only active wildfire is in the village of Gallatë, in the Milot administrative unit of Kurbin municipality. The fire spread from territory belonging to the municipality of Mat. Difficult terrain is hampering the deployment of firefighting vehicles, but authorities said there is no immediate danger to nearby residential areas.
